Bitcoin's worst start to a year on record

The price fell below $61,000, more than 50% down from October's high, in the weakest opening fifty days Bitcoin has had.

Declines in both January and February had never happened back to back before. Delayed market-structure legislation, doubt about the artificial-intelligence trade, uncertainty over Federal Reserve leadership and a new round of tariffs removed the rate-cut expectations the 2025 rally had been built on.
