Independent experts quickly showed that the publicly offered signature did not prove access to a Satoshi-era private key, and Wright withdrew a promise to provide further proof. In 2024, the High Court of England and Wales ruled that Wright was not Nakamoto, did not write the white paper, and did not create Bitcoin.
