New Liberty Standard published an exchange rate of 1,309.03 BTC per U.S. dollar based on estimated electricity costs.

The formula divided a computer’s electricity expense by the bitcoins it generated. The quote was not yet a liquid market price, but it offered a reproducible way to express Bitcoin in conventional money.
