New York announces the final BitLicense rules

The New York Department of Financial Services issued its final regulatory framework for virtual-currency businesses.

The rules required licenses for covered custody, exchange, and transmission activities and imposed compliance, capital, recordkeeping, and cybersecurity duties. The regulation took effect on June 24, prompting some firms to apply and others to stop serving New York.
