United States enacts the GENIUS Act

The GENIUS Act became federal law, creating a regulatory framework for permitted payment stablecoin issuers.

The law addressed reserve assets, redemption, disclosures, supervision, and the relationship between federal and state issuer regimes. It did not regulate Bitcoin as a stablecoin, but it materially changed the dollar-token infrastructure widely used in Bitcoin markets.
