New York regulators close Signature Bank

New York's banking regulator took possession of Signature Bank and the FDIC was appointed receiver.

Signature had served cryptocurrency firms through its Signet real-time payments network, although it had a broader commercial banking business. Authorities invoked systemic-risk measures to protect all depositors while equity and certain debt holders were not protected.
